Five.

Every day when I wake up, I drink half a glass of cold water. I don’t care if it’s supposed to be bad for you, I detest room temperature water.

I brush my teeth and shower. Cleanliness is next to godliness or whatever it is they say.

I work. A (wo)man who does not work will go hungry.

I eat lunch between 12 pm and 1 pm. This is the MOST important meal of the day.

I love to snack. Popcorn, chips, crisps, cake, fruits, it doesn’t matter, I eat all. I chew between 2 and 4 sticks of gum in a day. I love to chew gum.

I listen to music and dance. I have never been to a gym but I must get my 10k steps somehow.

I scroll through Twitter. I post on IG stories. I chat with friends and family on WhatsApp. I watch Tiktoks. I play Candy Crush. I might read a few pages from a book. I might light a candle. I might drink some tea. I take short Spanish lessons on Duolingo. I watch the YouVersion Verse of the Day story. I might do a lesson from a Bible Plan. I pray.

On Saturdays, I do chores and watch Netflix. On Sundays, I go to church and nap afterward.

I am an ordinary girl, living an ordinary life. In spite of my intermittent existential crises, I love (most of) it.

A friend asked me what has changed about me the other day and when I deeped it, I realised nothing had changed. I haven’t decided if this is a good thing or a bad thing but at least, I am a consistent queen.

So here’s to another year of being my unremarkable self — talking to myself out loud, eating hella snacks, being unable to multitask, do mental sums, or spell, having ridiculous dreams/nightmares, being a copycat, forgetting words, using my lame sarcasm and pop-culture humor as a crutch, using social media as my therapist and journal, crying on demand, rewatching 2000s romcoms, and being perpetually 19 in my mind.

Happy new year. hastagblessedt.
